Co-operative Bank of Kenya is a commercial bank in Kenya, incorporated in 1965, the largest economy in the East African Community. It is licensed by the Central Bank of Kenya, the central bank and national banking regulator. The bank has introduced Agency banking model as it has the second highest customer base in Kenya with over 3.5 million accounts as of June 2013. In 2010, the bank was awarded and Best Bank of Kenya by the London Financial Times due to their excellent growth.

Co-operative Bank operates in two segments, Retail Banking and Wholesale Banking.

Business Challenge

Co-operative Bank looked at simplification of its business in the long term by leveraging existing, high value, core banking systems to achieve cost savings and keep pace with changing business and regulatory requirements. It was looking to focus on customer data, insight, and analytics, in service of improved customer experience and an increased customer base.

Implementation Highlights

EIM Solutions conducted a assessment and roadmap definition exercise for a centralized, non-disruptive greenfield implementation of S4Hwith SRM for the banking sector.

The roadmap extended to include an S/4HANA global template design and roll-out plan to improve enterprise connectivity, improve processes, bring real-time analytics into the business landscape, strengthen cyber security of their ERP and mitigate risk of business interruptions

The team worked out a business case and value realization framework to help the in their transformation

As the implementation progressed, the business is beginning to realize value from a simplified landscape, and improved user friendly interface.
